Michelle La Barge-Burke started with the City of Barre as the Recreation Coordinator July 1, 2025. Michelle comes with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Minor in French and Math from Johnson State College. She also obtained a Master of Arts in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Indiana University Of Pennsylvania. She has worked as a Pre-School Teacher at the Children's Garden and in Higher Ed at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Lyndon State College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Melon. Michelle has also worked for the Barre Opera House as a Project Manager before coming to work for the City of Barre where she had volunteered for 10 years before being employed. She lives locally with her husband and two heelers.

Mattie will be returning for her third year as the Pool Director in the Summer of 2026. She is currently finishing up her BA and has already started on her Graduate Studies in Athletic Training.
