Barre City Recreation Office will be offering 3 Summer Camps for various ages ranging from 5 years old to 12 years old.
Sunshine Camps This is a week full of all kinds of activities such as beading, puzzles, legos/mega, chalking the walk, painting, coloring, bubbles, crafts, all kinds of games, turf time in the BOR and water time at the City Pool, weather permitting. Free lunch will be provided and 2 snacks daily.
CSI Camp This is a week full of all kinds of activities learning about forensics, searching for evidence, and gathering clues. You will conduct many sciences experiments in the crime lab to solve mysteries. You will also learn all about finger printing and bring home your very own detective kit and fingerprint classification sheet. There will be afternoon speakers and/or a project and Campers will finish the day with water time at the City Pool, weather permitting. Free lunch will be provided and 2 snacks daily.
July 13-17 Little Sunshine Camp Age 5 - 7
July 27-31 Sunshine Camp Age 8 - 12
August 3-7 CSI Camp Age 7 - 11
Items to Bring to Camp
- Campers are asked to dress in active comfortable clothes and bring the following daily:
- Water bottle
- Pool towel
- Swim wear
- Pool foot wear, if applicable
- Sunscreen
- A book
- Change of clothes
- Sun hat /Ball Cap
- Closed toed shoes for moving and dancing
- Extra snack, if your Camper may need one
- Lunch, if not taking the free lunch offered (a menu will be provided with confirmation letter)
- Cell phones are discouraged and if brought should be left in their day bag and only used for emergencies.
Camp Communication
An email distribution list and text group will be created to share photos and any updates. For example: Any changes in pick-up location due to weather.
Pick - Up & Pool Time
- Each day pick up will be at the City Municipal Pool, 59 Parkside Terrace, Barre VT 05641 (Weather Permitting)
- You are welcome to join your child(ren) at 4:30pm at the pool.
- Adults are $6.00
- Children $4.00
- Seniors 65+ are free.
Camp Scholarships
Scholarships are limited and based on a sliding fee schedule and are awarded on a first-come first-served basis. Scholarships require prior approval by Recreation staff. We request that financial aid applicants provide proof of income with their application, specifically pages 1 and 2 of your most recent 1040 Federal tax return or combined family W-2’s.
There is also an opportunity for scholarships based on overall need or hardship, not income based.
If you are applying for a scholarship, you must still complete and submit your pre-registration form along with your copies of your 1040 tax return or combined W-2(s).
